Portrait of André Custodio

About

I grew up in San Francisco and started drumming at 11, when my neighbor Karl Perazzo of Santana introduced me to Afro-Latin rhythms. Forty-plus years on, I’ve played, recorded and arranged in rock, jazz, funk and far beyond. That’s taken me from the Canto-core band Say Bok Gwai to Audible Method, an experimental music series I’ve curated on and off since the late ’90s.

Lately I’ve been blending electronic percussion with ambient sound, and my main focus is Neurotrash, a machine-driven garage rock project where I get to bring the kit and the electronics together.

These days I’m choosy about what I take on, so every project gets my full commitment. I follow the sounds, ideas and people that keep me curious.

Lessons

I take on a few drum students from time to time, any level and any style. If you want to work on your groove, your reading or your creativity on the kit, get in touch and ask about availability.
